Caring for Your Brompton: Simple Maintenance

A Brompton is built to last decades. A little regular care keeps the fold crisp and the ride quiet.
Bromptons are designed to be lived with and are simple to look after. A few minutes of regular attention keeps everything working smoothly and makes the bike last.
Keep the chain clean and lightly oiled - wipe it down and re-lube every couple of weeks if you ride daily, more often in wet weather. A clean drivetrain shifts better and wears far more slowly.
Check tyre pressures weekly; correct pressure protects against pinch punctures and makes the bike roll faster. Keep an eye on brake pad wear and replace pads before they reach the wear line - genuine Brompton pads are inexpensive and easy to fit.
Wipe down the hinges and hinge clamps and keep them free of grit so the fold stays crisp; a drop of oil on the clamp threads now and then helps. Store the bike indoors where you can - it's the single best thing for longevity.
Anything you're not comfortable doing yourself, bring it to us. Genuine Brompton parts and a proper service keep your bike riding like new for years.
